Documenting, analyzing and improving processes
What we do
Aldersgate has extensive experience of working with clients to:
- review processes,
- assess process risks,
- understand how they relate to the balance sheet (for private sector entities) or to national policy (government entities), and
- identify areas for improvement.
Typically we start by documenting the existing processes, down to level 3 or 4, then analyze the processes for risks, controls, opportunities and alignment to IT and the capabilities of the workforce, and then present finding to the client to make a decision on what changes, if any, to make. We also work with clients to help design and implement new processes and risk controls.
How we do it—the "Chicago" method
Aldersgate uses the Chicago method for helping clients to document, analyze and improve their processes. The Chicago method:
- Ensures accurate documentation of processes,
- Is efficient and non-bureaucratic,
- Guarantees results that managers recognize as representing what actually happens,
- Can be applied across the whole organization,
- Goes down to level 3 or beyond,
- Can be focused on individual areas of the business where an opportunity to improve has been identified or is suspected,
- Is relevant to all industry sectors and all government work.
- Can be used in any business cycle, or all cycles, or any part of a cycle.
- Can be used to assist with newly merged business units.
Chicago is particularly suited to organizations where some employees are having to work in a foreign language, because the facilitation and the interactive and visual content reduces their potential disadvantage.
